The Old Hastings Snow Riders hosted their third annual Vintage Snowmobile Show and Ride on Saturday January 24, 2026 . Snowmobile enthusiasts and casual spectators braved the frigid temperatures and spent the day admiring the classic sleds on display. To be considered vintage, snowmobiles must be model year 1999 or older, with the majority of those showcased dating back to the 1970s.
The day began early for participants, who trailered their ice-cold snowmobiles to the Dungannon Recreation Centre, the new location for this year’s show. The venue offered more space, along with a riding oval, to better meet the needs of the growing event. This year, the Bancroft Antique Safari also joined the show. These antique sleds, manufactured in 1967 or earlier, added a special highlight to the day. The Antique Safari features rides and activities scheduled over several days, with the final day culminating in the display of their sleds at this event.
Another group that joined the show was the Boa Ski Brotherhood, a passionate group known for their distinctive red Boa skis. The group brought approximately twenty snowmobiles to the event. Each year, they choose one show to gather at, travelling great distances to attend. This year, members came not only from across Ontario and Quebec, but also from as far away as Ohio, Wisconsin, and even Minnesota.
Spectators and participants were invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award, which was presented to the top five favourite snowmobiles. The trophies were handed out inside the recreation centre, giving everyone a chance to warm up and enjoy a BBQ lunch before the riding portion of the event began. As temperatures improved, riders set out on a two-hour, 35-kilometre journey.
By the end of the day, there was a clear sense of satisfaction, time well spent outdoors with like-minded individuals and excitement for what next year’s show will bring.
